A post!!! Finally!

Sorry about the long lack of posts, but I've actually had a pretty good excuse for not doing it. One really bad thing (for me) about having a blog is that I feel that if anything exciting happens, I should immediately post about it. Sometimes, though, I can't. This was one of those times. Mike and I found out about two months ago that we're (why do people always say we're? He's not, it's definitely me...) pregnant. But, we were only a month along at that point, so we decided to wait to make the announcement. But now I'm at about 13 weeks, so it's pretty safe to talk about.

Actually, I'll clarify a little. We talked about not telling people until the first three months were past, but it appears that basically everyone knew thanks to Mike. I guess the good thing is that at least it shows that he's excited. I keep finding out who else knew and was told not to tell me they knew. I did well though, I only told my family and people at work since I kept calling in so much. Yeah, I was pretty sick for the two months as well. It wasn't fun. But, I've gotten a lot better, so hopefully everthing goes well!

Besides that nothing else has really happened lately, except in the past two days our carpet was replaced in our apartment. It was a huge hassle and the carpet isn't even attractive. We're getting used to it, but it really is pretty ugly. Think about the church carpet that's thin, hard, and really rather purple. That's what we have, exactly. It has however, given me opportunity to go through things and get rid of a lot of stuff and clean and organize everthing else.

I promise now that I'm not keeping any big secrets I'll post more often!

Easter

A couple of days before Easter we made Spring-ish sugar cookies. I wanted to try out a recipe, and I figured it would be a good time to do it! They turned out pretty cute. The ones on the wax paper were the ones we were especially proud of and were keeping for ourselves! :)
We made our Easter baskets. Mike had a ton of candy in his (including a lot of coconut flavored things that I usually avoid) and mine had Newsies (YAY!) and a purple bunny in it. The bunny was a tradition in my family since my very first Easter. My first basket had this purple bunny that I became very attached to, like most people's blankets and things. Each year my parents would get me another bunny to try and replace that first one because it was getting kinda gross. It never worked, but it became tradition, and Mike being the awesome guy that he is, has carried on that tradition the last two Easter's!
I hid the eggs for Mike in the afternoon (he had to work in the morning). I his some really really well! It took him awhile to find all of them.
And Mike took and Easter nap, and I thought it was cute so I took a picture and am now posting it online for everyone else to see:)
So, we had a great Easter, though we were sad Mark and Shauna weren't able to come. I hope everyone else had a great one, too!

Las Vegas!

A couple of weekends ago Mike and I took a mini vacation down to Las Vegas. My parents were flying out for my cousins wedding, so we drove down to see them and the wedding. It was a lot of fun, although waaaaay too short of a trip for both of us. We left at about noon on Saturday and left Sunday evening so that we wouldn't miss any school. My parents made the trip a lot easier on us financially because for my birthday present they booked our room for us. We stayed at the Hilton, which we were both really impressed with. This was our room, at least most of it. We had a huge walk in closet and a big bathroom too. Mike's favorite part was showering without one arm against the wall and the other against the shower curtain. This was the outside, and the view was amazing from our room on the 18th floor.
We're terrible at taking pictures together, but this is one that we did get!
These are my wonderful parents, who I can't wait to see again in August:
You might think that this picture didn't turn out very well because it's dark, but thats exactly the point! I have a certain luck with Vegas, which I'm sure Mike will blog about at some point because he finds it hilarious. Anyways, Saturday night all of Las Vegas was participating in a Wildlife conservation thing and everyone turned off all non-essential lights from 8:30-9:30. We were very impressed with how many people did it.
We went to MGM to see the lions, which were alseep pretty much the whole time...

And, of course, we went to the M&M museum!!! It was pretty awesome!

My cousin got married in a little garden at Cesaers Palace, it was very nice. *In a completely unrelated side note, I just had a heart attack. I was innocently typing, and all of a sudden, all my internet windows closed, so I thought that I'd have to redo this whole post. Thank goodness for autosaves!*

On our way out, we stopped an In-N-Out to experience the wonderful things we had heard about. It was pretty good, but not great. I think that Five Guys is better, so I'm going to take Mike there sometime so he can compare. The trip was a blast, and I'm so glad we went. A little longer would have been nicer, but any break is a good break!

YAY!

So as it turns out, I'm terrible at blogging. Half the time I don't have anything to blog about, and the other half I have things to blog about, but no time to get to it. Having said that, I do have things from the past two weeks to blog about, and hopefully I will get to it either later today or sometime this weekend. This post is simply to say that it's official: I will be graduation in August and Mike will be graduating in December but will be walking with me in August. YAY!!! We're really excited to be done with school and moving into the real world. It also gives him more time to find a job and such. It will also make this summer a lot more relaxing with not having to find a place to live and moving within a week after graduation! so, again, YAY!!!!

My birthday and other things....

Sooo, my birthday was a week ago, and it was pretty sweet. I got some awesome stuff and got to go to Tucanos for the first time (although I think it was more of a present for Mike than for me). I got cards from both sets of parents, and Mom Bevans, this is what your present was used for:

Thanks so much! This is my new toy, and hopefully I'll use it really often once Mike oils it up for me. I got it off craigslist and it squeaks a lot, but should be easily fixed. This is the other stuff that I got:
Mike and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond in the morning and got the cooking stuff with a coupon I had. Our friends Tanya, Brent, Melia and Devon got me the Sims game which I got addicted to a couple of weeks ago, and the card and M&M's are from our neighbors, April, Eli and Andrew. We also stopped at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory after Tucanos and I got chocolate covered oreos! Yum!
Two of my old roommates Jenn and Jill came to Tucanos, as well as one of Mike's old roommates, Brett.

This is Brent and Tanya, Mike's boss :) They're pretty awesome and helped us know what to try there. Although, they also made us try the chicken hearts, which were in fact pretty gross. But now we know what not to get from there! Mike absolutely loved the place, and I thought it was pretty great too! They have the best pineapple ever! So, all in all it was a great birthday!! Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!

And for amusement, this is Mike drinking water upside down to get rid of hiccups. He hadn't heard of that remedy before, but it worked! I had never thought of doing it this way and thought it was pretty funny!

Utah weather is the worst thing ever

So, this week has been beautiful, sunny and warm with a nice breeze. Even the evenings have been perfect for walks. It seemed like Spring was here, and everyone was happy. And then it snowed. Twice. Yesterday morning and this morning. It's really depressing to have wonderful weather and wake up to snow, even if it does all melt away during the day. Hopefully Spring will come for real sometime soon.

On other news, I got the happy news that my best friend Sara is going to be very close to me the week after our birthday, so I'm very excited! She lives way up in Idaho but will be down in Rexburg for her Spring Break (don't get me started on BYU's lack of one) and so we'll hopefully get to see her! I haven't seen her in two years, and Mike hasn't even met her, so it's really very exciting.

Mike and I are also going to Las Vegas the last weekend in March to see my parents and some of my extended family. One of my cousins is getting married, and he lived with my family and I for a little while, so my parents (luckily) are flying all the way out to Vegas for his wedding! We'll drive down on Saturday and drive back up Sunday night so we'll have about a day and a half with my parents, and they're booking our room for my birthday present! Yay!

On the same note, almost all of Mike's family is coming down to Utah for a week or so to spend time in Southern Utah. That'll be a lot of fun to see them and be close enough to home that we won't have to miss a lot of classes. They might even get to see our apartment! That's really exciting because Jeremy is the only member of either of our families to see our apartment. Although, Mark, Shauna and Jackson will be here for Easter, so they'll get to see it, too. We know it's Wymount, but we like it and want to show it off!

I think that's all the exciting news for now, sorry for the lack of pictures!

This week...

On Saturday I worked from 2-6:30, but to my surprise, Mike and our brother-in-law Jeremy showed up at around 5:30 with heart shaped pizzas! Here's a picture of a heart shaped pizza I found online (because I'm terrible at taking pictures):

Ours looked very similar, except it wasn't Papa Johns. Then we played games all night. First we played Settlers of Catan, which Jeremy won. We love that game and were glad that he wanted to play with us! Then we played Whoonu, a game that my best friend Sara gave me for my birthday a couple years ago. We had a lot of fun with this one and got to know each other a lot better because of it! We played it several times, changing the categories to make it more interesting. I think I won most of the rounds, but what can I say? I got good cards!

Monday Mike was home all day and I was at work all day! I had to switch days with another girl because BYU decided to make Tuesday a Monday, which is all fine and dandy for people like Mike who work on campus, but makes it difficult for people who have other jobs. That night we went to Outback to use our gift card, and it was delicious! We stopped at the Verizon store on our way home to get a converter for me, but we ended up getting Mike a new phone. He was up for one and he fell in love with the new chocolate, so he got it, and is loving it now.
Almost a month ago, Mike ordered a few edited movies from a place that was going out of business. He finally got them on Tuesday, so Wednesday night we had a couple over to watch Kingdom of Heaven, and Mike and I watched Rambo (whatever the newest one is) last night. He's ecstatic, me- not so much... but at least it makes him happy!

Besides that, it's just work and school for both of us! We're also looking forward (and hoping) to seeing our families relatively soon in March and April/Mayish!
