Birthday Weekend

Ok, here comes a ton of pictures, although I did cut down a lot. Last weekend we celebrated my birthday on Saturday since we couldn't really go do anything on Sunday. First we went to the aquarium in Salt Lake. We had seen billboards for it, and so were curious to go see it. It was pretty small, but Alexa had a great time!

After the Aquarium we drove around a little while to kill sometime because Mike said it was too early for dinner. I was kind of confused because I thought we were just going to the Red Iguana, a place we saw on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives (I love the Food Network...) buuuuut it turns out Mike was taking me to The Melting Pot, which I had been wanting to try for a long time! It was sooooo good! This is a picture of our dessert right before we finished it. Oh my goodness, it was so good! Mike was really impressed as well. I even got him to try a bite of salmon! He didn't really like it though, so I guess I wait until next year to have it again :)

This is just a shot I got of it as we were leaving.
Sunday some things came up, so he didn't end up making my birthday dinner then, but I think he's making it tomorrow! I'm excited!

I'm ashamed...

So it took me this long to finally get around to reading Twilight, and I did it purely out of curiosity. I wanted to know all the fuss was about when it sounded like a written soap opera that was badly done. And I have to say, Stephenie Meyer is a terrible writer. Being in the same program that she graduated from, I don't know how she passed. The teachers I have are all pretty strict with grammar and sentence structure. Meyer pretty much completely ignores any and all rules in the English language. That being said, the books are ridiculously addicting. I told one of my friends "As an English major I cringe while I'm reading it, but I just can't stop!" And it's true. I've only read the first two, so no one ruin anything for me!

On another note, I forgot to update with Alexa's 2 month stats. She was 23.5 inches and 11.4 pounds. The nurse actually had to come measure her again because she was so surprised she had grown that much already! We just got back from getting pictures done, and as I was picking ones to buy, it really hit me how much she's grown. It really does happen too fast!

Playing and the nursery

Alexa's latest achievement is that she really plays with things now. This Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal is her favorite. If we put it in her reach she actually reaches out and grabs him now. She's a lot more interactive, which is a lot of fun!
I just loved this outfit, so I had to take a picture. This is thanks to Aunt Kim and Aunt Shauna! Kim got the outfit, which happened to match one of the bows that Shauna got perfectly!
Her changing table is just about her favorite place to be. She'll lay there and play by herself for quite awhile. Go figure!
And lastly, I'm rather proud of the nursery. I think we did a good job with what we had to work with. The pictures in the frames are my next project, so they'll change soon. Right now they're just fantasy pictures.

I'll post more pictures when it's done, especially since our crib is coming this week! I'm so excited! I'm really looking forward to getting it, as I'm hoping it will be easier to get her to sleep in it. I'm convinced the bassinet is just to small because she wakes herself up when she flings her arms out, which she loves to do. So, if anyone wants or knows someone who wants a bassinet, let us know!
